Vice President Kashim Shettima has commenced a two-week leave following the approval of President Bola Tinubu.
Announcing the development in a statement on Thursday, the Vice President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, said the leave is Shettima’s first since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
According to the statement, the Vice President will use the period for study, reflection and intellectual renewal to enhance his capacity for public service.
“During the period, the Vice President will devote time to study, reflection and intellectual renewal as part of efforts to strengthen his capacity for continued service to the nation,” the statement said.
It added that the break would also provide an opportunity for Shettima to review the administration’s ongoing programmes, deepen his understanding of emerging national and global policy issues, and prepare for the next phase of implementing the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Nkwocha noted that since taking office, the Vice President has remained actively involved in coordinating and supervising key government initiatives, particularly in the areas of economic development, food security, humanitarian affairs, digital transformation, job creation and regional cooperation.
