Veteran Actor Ogogo Laid to Rest in Hometown, Ilaro

Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State.

The 66-year-old actor was buried according to Islamic rites following funeral prayers held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the state.

Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, days after his family revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer.

His death has triggered an outpouring of tributes across the Yoruba film industry, with colleagues describing him as an influential figure whose contributions to Nigerian cinema and Yoruba culture will remain memorable.

Family members, friends, residents and prominent figures in the entertainment industry gathered in Ilaro to pay their final respects to the veteran actor.

Among those in attendance were veteran actors Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko, Mr Latin, Dele Odule, Olaiya Igwe, Fathia Balogun and Kolawole Ajeyemi, who joined mourners in honouring the late Yoruba cinema icon.
