The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed issuing seven official Federal Government number plates to vehicles linked to the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), insisting the approval followed established procedures.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed disclosed this on Thursday while appearing before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the establishment and operations of the disputed council.
His testimony came a day after businessman Gbenga Collins told the committee that he was picked up at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by vehicles bearing official Federal Government number plates assigned to the PFIPC.
Responding to questions from lawmakers, Mohammed confirmed that the FRSC approved and issued seven official number plates to the council after following its standard operating procedures.
According to him, the application was supported by a letter from the Presidential Economic Advisory Council as well as another signed by the PFIPC’s alleged Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi.
He added that the corps also verified the council’s official website and confirmed its listed office address at the Federal Secretariat before granting the request.
The FRSC was invited by the committee following Collins’ claim that he paid ₦400 million to Adeyemi in connection with the award of a contract.
Collins alleged that upon arriving in Abuja, he was received by PFIPC officials in vehicles bearing official Federal Government number plates. He said Adeyemi later presented him with a contract award letter, the project’s scope of work and an agreement for the renovation and furnishing of the Director-General’s official residence.
The businessman told lawmakers that Adeyemi requested the ₦400 million as proof of his company’s capacity to execute the contract and to facilitate mobilisation.
Earlier, Chairman of the ad hoc committee, Yusuf Gagdi, disclosed that Adeyemi was absent from the hearings because he is currently in police custody and is also under investigation by anti-graft agencies.
The committee is probing the circumstances surrounding the creation and operations of the PFIPC following allegations that the council operated without legal backing despite reportedly receiving about ₦1.3 billion in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
