IGP Deploys New Commissioners of Police to Eight States, Strategic Formations

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the deployment of Commissioners of Police (CPs) to eight state commands and several key police formations across the country as part of efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness and deepen ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.

The deployment, which received the approval of the Police Service Commission, was announced on Thursday in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.

According to the statement, the newly appointed CPs for state commands are Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia), Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa), Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (Cross River), Nanna Oji Ama (Anambra), Patrick Daaor (Edo), Tani Murtala (Jigawa) and Samuel Erale (Delta).

The IGP also approved the redeployment of several commissioners to strategic formations, including the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), the Police Academy and the Police Staff College.

Among the postings are CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to the Force Intelligence Department, Abuja; CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike to INTERPOL at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja; CP Aina Adesola to the Department of Finance and Administration/Department of Training and Development at Force Headquarters, Abuja; and CP Uduak Ita Otu to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.

Others include CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf to the General Investigation section of the FCID, Abuja; CP Taiwo A. Adedeji to the Counter Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Ajayi Oluyemi to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, FCID Abuja; CP Bolanle Aremu to the Department of Finance and Administration, Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman to the Inspectorate Department of Training and Development; CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed as Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos; CP Rita Oyintare Oki to the Department of Finance and Administration, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos; and CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura as CP Administration, FCID Annex, Kaduna.

The deployment also affects CP Nelson Nwamana, who was posted to the Police Academy, Kano, and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, who will serve at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Gombe.

Disu charged the senior officers to leverage their experience in their new roles by strengthening intelligence-led policing, improving operational efficiency, promoting professionalism and fostering stronger community engagement.

He urged them to remain committed to protecting lives and property while upholding the highest standards of discipline, accountability and service delivery.

According to the police, the latest redeployment is part of ongoing institutional reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening internal capacity and improving policing services nationwide.
