Former Minister of State for Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, on Saturday expressed concern over the slow performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Bimodal Voter Accreditation System at his polling unit during the Osun governorship election.
Adesiyan, who cast his ballot at Unit 8, Ward 6, Lagere Idiose, Ode Omu, questioned how long it would take the large number of voters waiting in line to vote, given the pace of the accreditation process.
He, however, noted that the exercise was peaceful and that no major incidents had been recorded at the polling unit.
“The exercise is peaceful here. There have not been any problems, only that the BVAS is very slow,” he said.
Adesiyan added that nearly 1,000 voters were registered at the unit, with many still waiting to cast their ballots. He said that, as of after 2 p.m., information available to him indicated that fewer than 200 people had voted.
