Nigeria’s Jessica Oji has qualified for the women’s shot put final at the ongoing 2026 World Athletics U-20 Championships in Oregon, United States, after an outstanding performance in the qualification round.
The Nigerian teenager topped the overall standings with a best throw of 17.56 metres, comfortably exceeding the automatic qualifying standard to secure her place in the final.
Oji finished ahead of Ecuador’s Belsy Jenniffer Quiñónez, who qualified second with a throw of 17.25m, while Maria Rafailidou claimed the third-best mark in the qualification round.
Her performance keeps Nigeria’s medal hopes alive as the championships continue in Oregon.
