The Lagos State Chairman of the Accord Party, Dele Oladeji, has dismissed claims that the party endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Oladeji, who also serves as Secretary of the Forum of Accord Party Chairmen in Southern Nigeria, described the claim as false and contrary to the party’s position.
He made the clarification on Sunday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria while reacting to comments attributed to Prof. Christopher Imumolen, a factional presidential candidate of the Accord Party.
Imumolen had reportedly claimed that the party was backing Tinubu’s re-election bid.
However, Oladeji said no meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee had discussed or approved an endorsement of the President.
“Accord did not and will not endorse Tinubu for a second term. Any person claiming otherwise is playing politics or engaging in anti-party activities,” he said.
According to him, the party had not deliberated on supporting Tinubu at any NEC meeting since preparations for the 2027 general elections began.
Oladeji maintained that any claim suggesting otherwise did not reflect the official position of the Accord Party.
