Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kolawole Lawal Mobolorunduro, Ph.D. (KLM), has dismissed what he described as attempts by Senator Iyabo Obasanjo to drag Senator Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) into unnecessary controversy, insisting that the Ogun West senator remains focused on delivering quality representation and service to the people.

In a statement reported by SkypenewsNaija and authored by its Senior Correspondent, Ayoola Ashaolu, KLM said the allegations against Senator Adeola were inconsequential and incapable of diminishing the reputation of a leader he described as committed to the development of Ogun State and the welfare of its people.

KLM stated that true leadership is defined by vision, integrity, service, preparedness and an unwavering commitment to the people, not by public accusations, empty rhetoric or personal ambition.

According to him, modern politics is driven by broad-based public support, effective grassroots engagement and a clear development agenda. He argued that it was inappropriate for anyone who failed to secure the confidence of the electorate to resort to public attacks after the political process.

The former lawmaker also alleged that it was contradictory for Senator Iyabo Obasanjo to publicly criticise Senator Adeola after allegedly seeking reimbursement of campaign expenses following her unsuccessful political outing.

He said:”Nigeria is gradually moving away from transactional politics. Any attempt to promote such practices, regardless of how they are presented in the media, is unacceptable and out of step with the expectations of the people.”

KLM further faulted remarks allegedly credited to Senator Iyabo Obasanjo questioning Senator Adeola’s integrity.

“It is ironic for anyone to accuse Senator Adeola of lacking integrity simply because he refused to yield to alleged pressure or demands that were inconsistent with the principles of transparent and responsible politics,” he said.

He described Senator Adeola as one of the few leaders whose passion for development, commitment to the welfare of the people and strategic vision for accelerated growth continue to distinguish him in public service.

According to KLM, Senator Adeola’s track record has consistently inspired public confidence, making him a trusted leader with the experience and capacity to deliver on his promises.

The former representative of Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly (2019–2023) advised Senator Iyabo Obasanjo to focus on rebuilding her political future rather than engaging in efforts aimed at discrediting others.

He urged her to allow leaders with proven records, such as Senator Adeola, to concentrate on consolidating the developmental strides of Governor Dapo Abiodun and advancing Ogun State’s growth.

KLM maintained that no one can restore a damaged public image by attempting to undermine another person’s reputation.

He added:

“Genuine image restoration comes through self-reflection, personal renewal, integrity and hard work.

“I encourage Senator Iyabo Obasanjo to take an objective look at Senator Olamilekan Adeola’s achievements, particularly his impactful service as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“YAYI remains a dependable leader with the competence, experience and commitment required to sustain the economic growth agenda initiated by Governor Dapo Abiodun and further position Ogun State as a leading model of development in Nigeria.

“YAYI represents hope, purposeful leadership and measurable progress. His vision, competence and dedication have earned him the confidence of the people.”
