The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a special passport intervention exercise across four cities in the United Kingdom to enable Nigerians to obtain new passports, renew existing ones and resolve pending applications.
The exercise will run from September 7 to 26, 2026, following the deployment of a Passport Intervention Team from the NIS headquarters in Abuja on the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission, the team will provide passport enrolment and processing services in London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff, bringing the services closer to Nigerians who may be experiencing delays or difficulties accessing passport facilities.
The intervention will take place in London and Manchester from September 7 to 19, before moving to Aberdeen and Cardiff from September 21 to 26.
In London, the exercise will be held at Layali Lounge, Trent Park, Bramley Road, London N14 4UW, while applicants in Manchester will be attended to at Nigerian House, 23 Platt Ln, Manchester M14 5NE.
The team will subsequently move to the Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen, AB24 4NR, and Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, Cardiff CF11 9XR.
A statement by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, urged eligible Nigerians in the designated cities and surrounding areas to take advantage of the exercise.
“Accordingly, all eligible Nigerians in the specified locations, including surrounding areas, who wish to obtain new passports, renew their passports, or resolve pending applications are encouraged to take advantage of the exercise and visit the designated venues on the scheduled dates,” the statement said.
Applicants are required to come with a completed application form, payment slip as evidence of payment, appointment slip and a self-addressed return envelope.
Those seeking passport renewal must also present their current passport.
The NIS warned that applicants who arrive with cash payments will not be attended to.
The Service also urged applicants to cooperate with officials to ensure the exercise is conducted smoothly and orderly.
The NIS clarified that the intervention exercise does not replace its existing digital services. Its online passport application platforms, including the contactless passport application system, remain available to applicants, with home delivery also provided.
Applicants are required to complete their applications and make payments through the NIS passport application portal.
