Hon. Kolawole Lawal Mobolorunduro, Ph.D., has commended the Federal Government for its intervention in the successful rescue of abducted teachers and students of Orire Community in Oyo State.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Lagos, the former member of the House of Representatives, who represented Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly (2019–2023), applauded the efforts of the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government in securing the release of the victims after 56 days in captivity.
Hon. Lawal also praised the contributions of the Nigerian armed forces, security agencies, and the Office of the National Security Adviser for their commitment, intelligence gathering, and coordinated efforts throughout the rescue operation.
He commiserated with the families of the two teachers lost their lives while in captivity, and the three officers who lost their lives while trying to secure the release of the victims. He also commended members of the rescue team and all individuals who played a role in the effort to secure the freedom of the abducted teachers and students.
Commenting on the development, Hon. Lawal said: “The intervention and coordinated efforts of both the Federal and State Governments deserve commendation. The support from members of the armed forces and the intelligence gathering efforts of the Office of the National Security Adviser were outstanding.”
He noted that the successful rescue operation demonstrated the capacity and capability of Nigeria’s security forces to protect citizens, while emphasizing the importance of collaboration among all levels of government in tackling security challenges.
“What has played out is that the Nigerian armed forces have the capacity and capability to protect Nigerians irrespective of the security challenges. Collaborative efforts and synergy among governments at all levels will further guarantee improved security across the country.”
Hon. Kolawole Lawal Mobolorunduro, Ph.D., further called for sustained cooperation among security agencies, government institutions, and communities to strengthen efforts toward ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.
