Arsenal came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 in a thrilling Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, maintaining their perfect start to the new campaign.
Chelsea took an early lead through Morgan Rogers, who struck in the second minute to stun the home crowd. Arsenal, however, responded strongly, with Kai Havertz equalising against his former club midway through the first half.
Martin Ødegaard then completed the comeback shortly after the interval, firing Arsenal into the lead as Mikel Arteta’s side held on for another important victory.
The result provided an emphatic response to Chelsea’s emergence as potential title contenders and brought an end to their unbeaten start to the season.
Arsenal’s early setback could have unsettled them, but the defending champions displayed the composure and attacking quality that have made them firm favourites to retain their Premier League crown.
Havertz’s equaliser sparked the turnaround before Ødegaard’s second-half winner completed a memorable comeback in a pulsating London derby.
With three wins from three league matches, Arsenal remain second behind Manchester City on goals scored. Their latest performance also underlined their determination to secure back-to-back Premier League titles for the first time since the 1930s.
For Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, the defeat brought his impressive start at Stamford Bridge to an end, following three consecutive victories in all competitions since taking charge during the close season.
