Google has announced new artificial intelligence-powered advertising features designed to help Nigerian businesses better track the performance of online adverts and manage their campaigns.
The Director for East and West Africa at Google, Olumide Balogun, disclosed this on Friday in Lagos.
Balogun said the new features, introduced under the company’s AI Max for Search platform, would provide advertisers with clearer insights into how customers interact with Search ads.
According to him, the updates include a new Google Ads reporting feature and an expansion of AI Brief, a Gemini-powered tool that enables advertisers to guide campaigns using plain language.
He said the new reporting feature would consolidate information on customers’ search queries, the adverts they are shown and the webpages they subsequently visit.
Previously, the information was available across different sections of advertisers’ Google Ads accounts, but it will now be presented in a single view.
“We are excited to give Nigerian businesses a clearer view of what their advertising delivers.
“This makes it far easier to decide where their budget works best,” Balogun said.
He said the reporting feature, unveiled at DMEXCO 2026 in Cologne, Germany, would be rolled out globally, including Nigeria, later in the year.
Balogun also said the expanded AI Brief feature would allow businesses to use everyday language to specify what their advertisements should or should not communicate.
He explained that advertisers could instruct the system not to mention prices, prioritise specific search queries or highlight particular offers to selected categories of customers.
According to him, businesses would also be able to preview sample adverts and search results before campaigns go live and modify their instructions where necessary.
