The All Progressives Congress (APC) has retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, bringing months of speculation over the party’s vice-presidential candidate to an end.
The ruling party formally submitted the names of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima as its presidential ticket for the 2027 general election.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja after receiving the nomination forms, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka expressed confidence that the party would secure another victory at the polls and retain power.
Following a stakeholders’ meeting where the APC officially unveiled the Tinubu-Shettima joint ticket, Vice President Shettima visited President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The closed-door meeting, held at the President’s office, was reportedly to express Shettima’s appreciation for being retained as the party’s vice-presidential candidate.
Shettima’s visit followed months of widespread speculation over whether President Tinubu would retain him as his running mate ahead of the 2027 election.
By retaining the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, the APC has reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership team that won the 2023 presidential election and will seek a renewed mandate in 2027.
