Two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has turned to an unusual stretching machine as he steps up preparations for his expected heavyweight showdown with fellow Briton Tyson Fury.
Joshua shared a video of himself undergoing the intense workout at his training gym in Dubai.
In the video, Joshua is strapped to a modern Pravilo machine, which stretches his arms and legs into a starfish-like position before rotating his body.
The unusual routine has been described as “torture” training by British media outlets, including the Daily Mail and The Sun, because of the demanding positions Joshua was placed in.
Joshua captioned the Instagram video: “When the instructor says, relax and breathe.”
The Pravilo is a stretching and conditioning machine associated with Slavic and Russian training traditions and is designed to improve flexibility, mobility and physical conditioning.
The 36-year-old’s latest workout comes as he prepares for a potential fight against Fury.
The proposed bout is reportedly being lined up for December at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium after plans for the fight to take place in New York were changed.
Joshua has previously fought twice in Cardiff, defeating Carlos Takam in 2017 and Joseph Parker in 2018.
A fight with Fury would bring together two of Britain’s most prominent heavyweight boxers for the first time, adding another major chapter to their respective careers.
