Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s bid to secure a second term in the 2027 presidential election, while commending him for supporting a free and fair electoral process.
Adeleke spoke on Sunday during a press conference following his victory in Saturday’s Osun governorship election.
“At this point, I must deeply appreciate Mr. President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election,” Adeleke said.
Describing Tinubu as a son of Osun State, the governor reiterated his earlier endorsement of the President for another term in office.
“Mr. President is a son of Osun State, and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election,” he added.
Adeleke also thanked the people of Osun for their support, promising that the state would experience faster development and economic growth under his renewed five-point agenda.
“In the last few months, Osun people have been under very intense pressure. Today, the issues are settled by the grace of God and the people,” he said.
He dedicated his victory to the people of the state, praising their resilience and commitment to democracy.
“I therefore dedicate this victory to the good people of Osun State. I deeply appreciate your resilience, your strong will and your unwavering commitment to democracy.
“As you have trusted me again for the second term in office, I will not disappoint you. To serve you better, I will reinforce my strong points and correct my errors,” Adeleke stated.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the election in the early hours of Sunday.
The Returning Officer, Joshua Ogunwole, announced in Osogbo that the incumbent polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 444,815 votes.
Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished third with 17,180 votes.
A total of 1,005,800 votes were cast across the 30 local government areas of Osun State, while 985,079 votes were recorded as valid.
INEC said 1,010,684 voters were accredited for the election.
