A Nigerian couple has opened up about their difficult experience after relocating from the United Kingdom to Canada, revealing that they eventually returned to the UK after struggling to secure jobs.

In a video shared on X by a user named Ozor Ndi Ozor, the couple said expectations about life in Canada did not match their reality, particularly in terms of employment opportunities.

“When I posted the video that we were relocating to Canada from the UK, a lot of you saw it but did not warn us that you were suffering in Canada. We spent five years in Canada before we decided to come back to the UK. We went there and came back with nothing. There is nothing there; no jobs, nothing,” they said.

They added that despite applying through multiple channels, including online platforms and agencies, they were unable to secure employment during their stay.

“In Canada, jobs are usually for the Pakistanis and Indians. If you are a nurse, if you want to go Canada, go there and understand the system for about five months. There are no jobs there. They would just hype the country so you can go there and fall victim,” the couple added.

According to them, they spent about five months in Canada before deciding to return to the United Kingdom, citing frustration and lack of opportunities as major reasons for their decision.

Their account has since sparked conversations online about the realities of relocation.

Although many recognise the tough economic climate in Canada, some feel the couple did not take the right approach.
