We celebrate a special and significant day in the life of a distinguished son of Ogun State, a scholar, accomplished corporate professional, political leader, and dedicated public servant — Hon. Kolawole Lawal, PhD.
We celebrate Hon. Dr Lawal, popularly known as KLM, not merely because it is his birthday, but because of the remarkable journey and contributions that have defined his career. His life and service reflect excellence, integrity, resilience, intellectual depth, and an enduring commitment to the people and the development of Nigeria.
Born in Oke-Odan, Ogun State, Hon. Dr Lawal rose from humble beginnings through determination, hard work, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence to become a respected technocrat and political leader. Throughout his journey, he has earned admiration for his vision, humility, leadership, and dedication to public service.
A Distinguished Academic and Professional
Hon. Dr Lawal is a well-accomplished scholar whose academic journey reflects his passion for knowledge and continuous development. He holds a PhD in Legislative Studies from the Federal University, Lokoja, an Honorary Doctorate in Public Administration from London Bridge Business School, London, and a Master’s degree in Legislative Studies from the University of Benin.
He also holds an MBA in Management and a B.Sc. in Banking and Finance, both from Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, as well as a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
In 2015, Hon. Dr Lawal was appointed Commissioner for Forestry in Ogun State, where he brought his professional experience and leadership capacity to public administration.
In 2019, he was elected to represent his constituency in the 9th House of Representatives. During his tenure, he served as Chairman of the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges and chaired the House Sub-Committee on Finance responsible for investigating Federal Government intervention funds. He also served on several strategic committees of the House.
