Industrial & Medical Gases Nigeria Plc (IMG) is expanding its range of specialised gas solutions as demand grows across Nigeria’s manufacturing, healthcare, food processing, pharmaceutical, laboratory and commercial sectors for reliable temperature control, industrial heating, preservation and process protection.
The company’s portfolio includes Dry Ice, High-Purity (HP) Propane, Helium, Liquid Nitrogen (LIN) and Argon, each serving specific applications across the economy.
IMG Dry Ice, which operates at approximately -78.5°C, is used for cold-chain transportation and preservation of temperature-sensitive food, pharmaceutical and healthcare products, while also supporting specialised cleaning applications.
According to IMG’s Acting Managing Director, Abayomi Oke, the company’s strategy is increasingly focused on providing solutions tailored to customers’ operational requirements rather than simply supplying industrial and medical gases. “Our focus is not simply on supplying gases, but on providing reliable solutions that enable our customers to maintain their processes, protect their products and improve operational efficiency,” Oke said.
HP Propane provides a controlled and consistent source of heat for applications including industrial heating, metal processing and cutting, while Helium serves specialised requirements such as leak detection, laboratory and scientific applications.
The gases are used in environments where dependable thermal performance, precision and inert conditions are important to production and testing processes.
Liquid Nitrogen, which remains in liquid form at approximately 196°C, provides ultra-low-temperature cooling and freezing for applications spanning food processing, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, laboratories and specialised manufacturing. Its ability to rapidly reduce temperatures makes it useful for preservation and temperature-sensitive processes.
Oke said the expanding applications of Dry Ice, Liquid Nitrogen, Argon, Helium and High-Purity Propane reflect the growing importance of specialised gases to productivity, quality control and operational continuity.
He added that IMG is positioned to serve businesses across manufacturing, healthcare, food processing, pharmaceuticals, metal fabrication and other sectors where reliable gas solutions are integral to their operations.
An industry analyst explained that the expanding product mix could have positive implications for IMG’s earnings profile by broadening its addressable customer base and creating additional revenue streams across sectors with recurring demand for specialised gas solutions.
“ Products serving critical production, healthcare and preservation needs can potentially support revenue diversification and capacity utilisation, although the ultimate impact on profitability would depend on volumes, pricing, production costs, energy expenses and the company’s ability to maintain operating efficiency”, the Analyst said.
Argon plays an important role in welding and metal fabrication by providing an inert shielding environment that helps protect weld areas from atmospheric contamination.
The product is therefore relevant to industrial processes where weld quality and controlled production conditions are critical.
