The Federal Government has assured parents, guardians and students of adequate security as all Federal Unity Colleges across the country resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026.
The Federal Ministry of Education said necessary measures had been put in place to ensure a safe and smooth start to the new academic session.
It added that relevant security agencies had been briefed on the resumption arrangements and would maintain heightened vigilance around the colleges and their immediate environments.
Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remained a priority in the government’s efforts to provide a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning.
In a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the ministry said coordinated efforts with security agencies were aimed at protecting students, staff and members of the wider school communities as academic activities resume nationwide.
Alausa urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and proceed with preparations for their children and wards to return to their respective colleges.
He also directed school authorities to maintain close communication with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure an orderly and secure resumption.
The minister called on students, parents, teachers, administrators and other stakeholders to work together to sustain a peaceful, supportive and secure learning environment.
He assured Nigerians that the ministry would continue to monitor developments and take necessary measures, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to safeguard students and staff and ensure the smooth continuation of academic activities.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system and ensuring that children have access to quality education in a safe and conducive learning environment.
