Ahead of the 2027 general elections, President Bola Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, appointing former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as Secretary.
The composition of the council was announced in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday.
Under the structure, Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the campaign council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be Vice Chairman. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as a vice chairman, while Yari will oversee the council as Director-General.
APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were named Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.
The council will also have an advisory body comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed Deputy Director-Generals for the South and North.
They will work alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau in coordinating the two geopolitical blocs.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole was appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as Deputy Director-General for Administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Faleke will coordinate zonal directors including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Ramat and Audu Maikori were appointed secretaries of the Election Planning Directorate.
Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the Legal Directorate as Director, supported by Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies.
Other members of the legal team include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
Media and Strategic Communications
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, was named Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication. He will work with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
The media directorate also includes Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka as coordinating deputy directors.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor were appointed coordinating secretaries of the directorate.
Segun Dada will return as Director of New Media, a position he held during the 2022 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary, New Media.
The campaign council also appointed five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. The others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
Tinubu charged members of the council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.
He also urged the heads of the various directorates to engage other party members who were not included in the published list and bring them into the campaign effort.
The President said the administration had fulfilled its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on the path to economic growth.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians.
“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet—let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation. Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards,” Tinubu said.
