President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, saying the victory reflects the confidence the people of the state have in his leadership.
Governor Adeleke was re-elected on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said Adeleke’s victory was also an indication that democracy would continue to thrive in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirms the people of Osun State’s confidence in him,” Tinubu said.
The President wished Adeleke success in his second term and urged him to unite the people of Osun State, irrespective of their political affiliations, while focusing on growth, stability and socio-economic development.
“I wish him great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years. Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made in the election,” he said.
Tinubu also commended the other candidates for their conduct during the election, saying their participation contributed to Nigeria’s democratic development.
“I salute the courage and discipline displayed by other contestants in the election. Their participation deepened and enriched our country’s democratic culture,” he added.
He said the outcome of the election reflected the will of the people and demonstrated that democracy would continue to flourish in the country.
The President further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for conducting what he described as a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.
