The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has deployed a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to ease and streamline passport application processes for Nigerians living in the country.
The initiative, directed by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is part of ongoing efforts to improve passport services for Nigerians in the diaspora.
In a statement shared on its official X handle on Sunday, the NIS said the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, had been directed to deploy the team from the Service’s headquarters in Abuja to the UK.
The team is expected to arrive in the United Kingdom on August 10, 2026, and will work with the Nigerian High Commission to facilitate the processing and issuance of pending, new and renewal passport applications.
As part of the intervention, the team will visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing, enabling eligible applicants in different parts of the country to access the service.
The exercise is open to Nigerians with pending passport applications, first-time applicants and existing passport holders with less than one year remaining before expiry who wish to renew their documents.
Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and proof of payment at the point of enrolment.
The NIS said details of the exercise, including the designated cities, dates, venues and enrolment times, would be announced separately.
“Applicants are therefore advised not to proceed to any location until the relevant schedule has been officially communicated,” the Service said.
It advised Nigerians in the UK to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for updates and further information.

The Service also said its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, would remain fully operational throughout the intervention exercise.
It added that the home delivery service would also remain available to applicants.
The Nigeria Immigration Service reaffirmed its commitment to providing “efficient, transparent and responsive passport Service Delivery to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.”
