The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted a consignment of cocaine allegedly concealed in phone chargers and destined for Saudi Arabia.
The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a post on X on Sunday, warning that drug traffickers were increasingly hiding illicit substances in ordinary household items to evade detection.
Babafemi said the items appeared to be regular phone chargers, but NDLEA operatives discovered that they had been used to conceal cocaine.
“On the surface value, these are phone chargers but @ndlea_nigeria officers won’t fall for that. Concealed in there are consignments of cocaine going to Saudi Arabia,” he said.
The NDLEA spokesman reiterated the agency’s warning to members of the public against accepting or helping to transport parcels and luggage for other people without verifying their contents.
“This is why we keep warning people not to help anyone deliver any parcel or luggage on their face value because of the desperation by traffickers,” Babafemi said.
