The Confederation of African Football has unanimously endorsed FIFA’s statement acknowledging shortcomings in the handling of the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise while reaffirming its commitment to good governance, transparency and due process.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee, which also unanimously reaffirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino amid growing scrutiny over his leadership.
According to Skype Online, FIFA unveiled the FIFA Forward Enterprise on July 28, 2026, as a wholly owned commercial subsidiary designed to oversee the organisation’s commercial and event operations, including the FIFA World Cup. The initiative was expected to raise about $4.2 billion through the sale of minority stakes to private investors.
FIFA said the proposal was intended to generate additional revenue for football development and significantly increase funding for its 211 member associations.
However, the plan sparked widespread criticism over the way it was introduced, with several football stakeholders raising concerns about the lack of consultation. In response, FIFA withdrew the proposal and later admitted that mistakes had been made during the process.
By endorsing FIFA’s statement, CAF expressed support for the governing body’s acknowledgement of those errors while reiterating its backing for Infantino’s leadership.
