Three students have been rescued following the collapse of a three-storey student hostel, Elite Five Star Lodge, in Amokpala, near the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The building reportedly collapsed on Sunday night, prompting an immediate rescue operation by the police and other emergency responders on Monday.
Rescue teams, including personnel from the Anambra State Fire Service, the State Emergency Management Agency, and other relevant agencies, have been working tirelessly to locate and rescue victims trapped beneath the rubble.
As of the time of filing this report, three victims had been pulled from the debris and were receiving treatment at St. Michael Hospital, Oko.
Authorities have yet to confirm the number of casualties, while investigations into the cause of the building collapse are ongoing.
Rescue efforts remain underway as emergency officials continue searching for anyone still trapped.
