Afrobeats star Burna Boy has reunited with Colombian singer Shakira ahead of their performance at the inaugural FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
The Grammy-winning artiste shared a video on his X account on Friday showing the duo exchanging hugs, smiles and laughter during rehearsals for Sunday’s show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
Captioning the post, Burna Boy wrote: “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”
The video, accompanied by photos, showed the two artistes in casual outfits embracing outside production trailers at the stadium as preparations intensified for the historic performance.
FIFA had earlier confirmed that Burna Boy and Shakira would perform Dai Dai, the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, during the tournament’s first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show.
PUNCH Online previously reported that the traditional 15-minute halftime interval is expected to be extended to accommodate the entertainment spectacle, with broadcasters likely to schedule a break of about 30 minutes.
The extended interval is expected to include the customary 15 minutes of match analysis, followed by an 11-minute musical performance headlined by Burna Boy and Shakira.
FIFA has also unveiled a star-studded lineup for the show, featuring BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, acclaimed conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus alongside Coldplay, as well as appearances by Sesame Street and The Muppets.
In addition to the entertainment, the halftime show will spotlight global education initiatives aimed at improving access to learning opportunities for children worldwide.
Sunday’s World Cup final will see reigning Copa América champions Argentina face European champions Spain.
Burna Boy and Shakira previously performed Dai Dai during the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City, where the song made its debut as the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
